CrossFitting for a Cause
While booze filled parties raged on to the Dropkick Murphys in cities across the country, quite the opposite was happening at the Metro State College Campus in Denver, CO on St. Patrick’s Day. It was a beautiful morning with a little bit of an ornery breeze as warm-ups began for the 1st Annual Atlas Blarney Stone CrossF...
Program helps veterans climb above substance abuse
John Schneider craves the feel of chalk on his hands. He longs for the rough texture of rock on his fingertips as he feels his way up a 43-foot wall of rock.
Fifteen years ago, those same hands reached for beer bottles, for marijuana, for cocaine.
Now, his highs come while trying not to fall.

Per Ignem Ad Astra: Through the Fire to the Stars!
At Phoenix Multisport – you'll find the latin words Per Ignem Ad Astra (through fire to the stars) written all around our offices. It's not just a phrase, it's a way of life here and what we remember everyday when we think of our members and the millions who still battle drug and alcohol addiction around the country each day.
Give The Gift of Recovery
The holiday season is an amazing time of the year to reflect with family and friends. However, this time can also be very challenging for those in recovery and often faced with few social options that don't include alcohol. At Phoenix Multisport we run over 50 programs per week in Colorado that are free of charge for participants and run through the ho...

COS Fall Picnic
The second annual end of the year picnic for the Colorado Springs chapter of Phoenix Multisport was a huge success and a lot of fun. There were some last minute venue changes to the Colorado Springs office instead of Red Rocks open space due to the weather, but people made the most of it. Members representing the full spectrum of what phoenix has to offer, from climbing to cycling, strength ...

PERSONALIZED CLIMBING WITH STUDENT VETERANS
Sometimes it can work out for the best when things come up and not everyone can attend an event – especially for those who were able to make it. So went the latest Phoenix event with our student veteran friends at CU Boulder – though many had mid-terms and we look forward to seeing them next time.
Still we had the Army, Navy and Air Force well represented at our latest event...

Phoenix ran another event with CU Student Veterans on August 1 – a Full Moon hike followed by a promise of campfire free S’mores. Unfortunately, the overcast sky did not allow for much of a full moon but the hike was very enjoyable for all as the rain let up and made for perfect hiking weather.
As with the last student veteran event, there was a good mix from all br...

Nick Nisbet Destroys Hill Country 600
The weekend of March 13, 2010 Nick Nisbet raced the Texas Hill Country 600 to qualify for the 2011 Race Across America (RAAM). Nick is living proof that there is no substitute for saddle time. He rides his bike almost every day, sometimes logging 150 plus miles, on 8-hour rides. The 380-mile Texas Hill Country 600 (600 = kilometers) would be right up his alley. Bolivia: Update 7
Scott just called (4pm MDT) to check in! They have been at base camp waiting out a storm and killing time playing LOTS of Settlers of Catan. The storm brought wind and some snow but not enough to make conditions dangerous for them to move into high camp tomorrow.

Bolivia: Update 5
We received a quick call from the "boys" today via satellite phone. They climbed their first mountain of the trip! A direct route up Mount Illusion at 16,897 feet. Ben described the climb as a long rocky snowfield with radical views from the top. They are in good spirits and miss everyone at home.
Bolivia: Update 4
We have arrived at basecamp in Pequeno Alpamayo. We practiced on the glacier today. The first night we arrived, Rourke?s stomach was upset but he is doing better now. We think we had too many lasagna bologneses' in Copacabana.
Everyone is in good spirits and the Phoenix Multisport flag is flying high over our base camp! Read More
Bolivia: Update 3
We are off to the mountains for the next 6 days. Base camp will be at 16,000 feet and with any luck we will summit 3 mounts and climb to almost 19,000 feet.

Bolivia: Update 2
After two days of rest and acclimating in La Paz we left for the small town of Cocabana on the banks of Lake Titicaca on the Bolivia-Peru boarder. We had a great time in La Paz but were also reminded often of our amazing fortune and of the fragileness of life. Scotts good friend Carlos passed away while we were planning this expedition, he was to be our primary contact and was a close friend of...Read More
